World Poker Tour

The World Poker Tour (WPT) is a television series of poker tournament finals, which was launched in the US by Steven Lipscomb, a television producer and lawyer who was the CEO of WPT Enterprises (WPTE), the company operating the WPT brand, till its acquisition by Party Gaming in 2009.

The WPT official website contains almost everything a poker enthusiast would like to know about poker in general and the WPT in particular. The site offers features such as poker, WPT TV, WPT Tour, player information, live updates and WPT statistics, live video streaming, Royal Flush Girls, and media center.

More about WPT

Today, the WPT is an internationally acclaimed brand, which is associated with not only televised poker gaming, but also with live poker tournaments, online poker gaming, and mobile poker gaming. WPT is responsible for a poker boom that spread to every nook and corner of the world, generating great interest in the game. Poker enthusiasts can view WPT shows in more than 150 countries worldwide, and currently, the WPT is showing its 9th season in the US.

The 10th season is being sponsored by Club WPT, an online WPT club, which provides its members complete access to the WPT. Ever since the merger of Bwin and Party Gaming, WPT is part of Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment Plc.

Poker players can also follow WPT on Twitter and Facebook to get the latest updates and alerts.

Uniqueness of WPT Shows

One of the best things about poker is that one need not be an expert to play against top players; anybody above the age of 21, who can afford the buy-in, is free to enter the WPT.

The WPT team films prestigious poker tournaments in a venue suited for airing on the TV and shows them at scheduled seasons. WPT shows include special technology that allows viewers to see the hole cards, live commentary by poker players, and a live audience, giving people the experience of viewing a major sporting event.

WPT shows can be viewed on Fox Sports Net (FSN), and those interested only have to check the timings in their locality. Since viewers can see the hole cards, they know exactly what each player has and this makes the game all the more exciting.
